I dont think he's truly 6-10 from the pictures in the state program. 6-7 maybe, but not 6-10. Hill looked good. He made a couple of nice shots in the second half, but K&W ran a zone on D about the whole time and Hill didn't try to play like a big. He was more concerned with hitting the 10-15 footer than attacking the rim it seemed like to me.

Right now GW is coming back in the 1st quarter after Buckingham jumped out to a little lead.

HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL: All-Southwest Virginia final in Group A, Division 2

Just minutes ago, the George Wythe Maroons collected a 71-63 victory over Buckingham County in the semifinals of the Virginia High School League Group A, Division 2 boys basketball tournament.

Earlier in the day, Gate City collected a 61-47 victory over King William.

That sets the stage for an All-Southwest Virginia state final between GW and Gate City on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. at the Siegel Center in Richmond.

It also means Southwest Virginia is guaranteed to have its first state champion since Council won the Group A crown in 2001.

Since the VHSL realigned in 1970, never have two teams from Southwest Virginia played for a boys basketball state title in Group A.
